The Best Museums to Visit in Warsaw

What museums are worth visiting in Warsaw? There are a lot of museums in Warsaw, and as a result, there is something for everyone. I have chosen diverse places, those that will bring you closer to history, that cover interesting topics, but also those that make for a splendid background for photos.

I will not try to convince you that museums are not boring. You guys know that very well, after all! If there are any museums in Warsaw that I have not mentioned in this post, and you want to recommend them – I look forward to your comments!

Interesting museums in Warsaw? Here we go!

Museum of Life in the People’s Republic of Poland

The Museum of Life in the People’s Republic of Poland is colorful and interesting, but it also presents history as it was in reality. Facts, photos and information. Just so you know, this is not a museum for those who long for “how good it used to be.” Living in the People’s Republic of Poland was tough, which one can imagine by looking at products, everyday accessories or by drinking coffee in a ‘communist’ cafe.

The Warsaw Rising Museum

The Warsaw Rising Museum is one of the most famous museums in Warsaw. Not without reason, as it’s a journey to a time that was extremely difficult for the city’s residents. The Museum is a tribute of Warsaw’s residents to those who fought for the independent Poland. Entering the museum, we are moved back in time, looking at photos, films, exhibitions we feel in that reality and feel thankful that we live in another time. We  think of those who didn’t live to see the present day, reflecting on politics and history – not only of Warsaw.

Definitely worth a visit. Admission on Mondays – free.

Cosmos Museum

There are a bunch of museums in Warsaw that look great in photos. One of them is Cosmos Museum, a museum of illusions and digital art. It’s hard to describe all the exposures – there are a lot of mirrors, interesting rooms and exhibits full of magic. Some make you “dizzy,” others diffuse the light and make quite a photogenic effect.

National Museum in Warsaw

To be in Warsaw and not visit the National Museum? Yes, one can. But the National Museum in Warsaw is not only iconic and the largest in the capital, but above all – interesting. What is worth seeing? Definitely my favorite part of the museum, which is the collection of ancient art (Egyptian, Greek, Roman) – unusual, beautifully preserved, enchanting. Besides, it is here that we will see the famous “Battle of Grunwald”, and many paintings by Kossak, Maslowski or Malczewski.

Admission on Tuesdays – free.

Geological Museum

What surprised me is that this is one of the less frequently visited museums, though it is free all the time. This absolutely does not mean that the exhibitions are uninteresting. The Geological Museum in Warsaw is located in a beautiful building, and its interiors are incredibly photogenic. Here you will find rich collections of rocks, minerals and fossils. Besides, it is a real mine of information about the geology of Poland, which will interest both children and adults.

National Bank of Poland Money Center

The NBP Money Center is probably the only such museum in Warsaw. It is not a museum just for enthusiasts of economics, finance or money, but for everyone. We will learn about the history of money, interesting things about online payments, see the treasury or how money is created.

Like the Geological Museum, it is one of the free museums in Warsaw.

Museums in Warsaw – Which Ones Are Worth Visiting?

Which museums in Warsaw are worth visiting? There are a whole lot of them! The list of museums in the capital is really long, with dozens of entries, and it’s hard to count them all, let alone visit them.

Therefore, if you want to add something – I look forward to your comments!
